Me and my daughter made a lovely vest!
From a sweater from the bargain-table; only € 5,-
Add 4 strips of fabric, 2 inch wide and some old buttons.
Sew two strips together and place them next to the drawn line (water soluble!) in the middle of the sweater.
Sew the strip on to the sweater front; right sides together.
Sew the top and bottom of the strip and fold in a 1/4" seamallowance. Cut of the fabric leaving a 1/4 ".
Repeat on the other side of the line with the two remaining strips.
Turn the sweater inside out....
.... and apply two lines of Fraycheck to prevent the sweater from fraying. Let it dry. Slide in a ruler first to prevent stains.
Cut the sweater right between the sewn-on strips and into the fraycheck-treated sweater. The ruler makes sure you only cut the front of the sweater.
Fold the strips right side out and turn under a 1/4"seam allowance.
The sweater is open now; it is a vest!
Pin the strip down.
Stitch the stips of fabric al the way trough onto the sweater. Now you can see the 4 different fabrics!
Make buttonholes and pick out 6 different buttons.
Here you can see me removing the water soluble marker with a damp cloth.
sew on the buttons...
and done!
Add a lace-bow and a silver button as decoration.
One Happy girl!
Happy sewing,
Dorry
