Busy like a bee

Als je naar deze grappige foto kijkt, denk je vast,wat is er aan de hand bij Quilt it & Dotty?
When you look at this very funny picture, you might think, what is going on at Quilt it & Dotty?
Nou, we begonnen met wat kadootjes in bruine zakjes en een dobbelsteen. Rollen!
Well it all started with some gifts in brown paper bags and a dice. Let's roll it!

Als je één gooit, dan gaat het pakje naar rechts, gooi je twee dan naar links, drie is wissel met je buurvrouw, etc. Maar zes is BONUS! Dit betekent een extra kado voor jou!
If the dice says one, gift goes one to the right, two is to the left, three is exchange with your neigbour,etc. But six is BONUS! This means an extra gift for you!
Rollen, kadootjes verwisselen van handen, weer rollen, wat een lol en toen...
Roll it, gifts change hands, roll again, just so much fun, and then...
BONUS!!!BONUS!!! (jammer genoeg mocht Ria het kadootje niet houden, iemand anders rolde zes...)

De volgende Poppenquiltclub was zo leuk! Pop Tilly kreeg bezoek, ik ben haar naam even vergeten, maar ze is gemaakt door haar.
The next bee of the Poppenquiltclub was such a fun thing! Doll Tilly got a visitor, I didn't catch her name, but she was made by here.
Hey, wie is dit? Ze is in ieder geval haar fantastische antieke poppenbedje aan het showen en Tilly vind hem ook leuk! Ze heeft wat rust nodig omdat pop Emma en Tilly ruzie hadden met elkaar. Emma wilde niet meer in één kamer zijn met haar dus Tilly verblijft in de workshop gedurende de nacht en Emma in de woonkamer. (ik weet wel waar ik het liefste zou zijn...) Ik heb ook een matras voor haar gemaakt van simpele stof en een wollen vulling, twee laagjes! Ik heb wat geknoopt en ik heb Tilly niet meer horen klagen!
Hey, who is this? She is sure showing a terrific antique dolls bed and Tilly loves it to! She really needed a rest because doll Emma and Tilly got into a fight with each other. Emma couldn't bare her being in the room so Tilly stays in the workshop during the night and Emma in the livingroom. (I know were I would like to be....). I also made a mattress for the antique bed; a pice of calico and wool bating, two layers! Did some tying, and I haven't heard Tilly complain!
Shirley, wat leuk van je dat je even op bezoek kwam! Ze bracht haar moeder mee en als twee 'cracks' in de quiltwereld, hebben we even lekker tips en adviezen uitgebracht.
Shirley, how nice of you to pay me a visit! She did bring her mom too, and two 'cracks' in the quilting world, we exchanged a lot of tips and advice.

O, wat is dit toch een donkere foto! Je kunt al goed zien dat de herfst hier ook al bezig is. Allemaal bezig met een kleine poppenquilt!

Dit gebeurde allemaal tijdens het Textielweekend in Tilburg. En ik kreeg een heel goed commentaar over mijn deelname en daar bloos ik nog steeds van!
This all happened at the Textielweekend in Tilburg. And I got such a good comment about that, I am still blushing!

Wat ik je ook wilde vertellen is dat we weer een PARTY gaan geven!!!!!

Op zaterdag 31 oktober tussen 19.00-23.00, wordt dit evenement gehouden. Velen van jullie zijn al eens op een party geweest en weten dat dit zoooooo leuk is! Het is € 25,- voor eten drinken, workshop inclusief materiaal! Breng alleen jezelf mee en wat basis naaispulletjes. Je mag in Halloween-kostuum (Ik wel!!) en als je aan het belletje treks en de deur gaat open moet je roepen:

Trick or treat!!! (anders kom je niet binnen)

On Saturday October 31st, between 19.00-23.00, this event will be held. A lot of you have visited a party before and know this is sooooo much fun! It is € 25,- for food and drinks, workshop including all materials! Just bring yourself and some basic sewing stuff. You may come in Halloween costume ( I am!!!!) and when you ring the doorbell, and the door opens you have to shout:

Trick or treat!!!! (otherwise you cannot enter the house)

The entire house downstairs will be open, Halloween and Fall-decoration, yummy goodies, fun things to do and a lot of fun quilters to meet!

Mara's tuin is finished!

Je hebt vast wel gehoord dat ik Mara's tuin af heb. Het patroon is van Jan Patek en je kunt het
hier vinden. Ik heb de applicatie met de hand gemaakt en de blokken het het quilten met de machine.
You've heard that I finished Mara's tuin. The pattern is from Jan Patek and you may find it here.
I've made the appliqué by hand and the blocks and the quilting on the machine.


Je ziet hem niet, maar achter de quilt is mijn DH! Hij moest op een stoel staan om de quilt hoog genoeg te houden. Het was zo zonnig dat de meeste details niet zichtbaar waren. Maar wacht eens even...
You may not see him, but behind the quilt is my DH! He had to stand on a chair to hold the quilt high enough. It was so sunny that most details are not visible. But wait...

Ik zal de achterkant naar voren vouwen en het grote zigzagband laten zien dat tussen de quilt en de binding geplaatst was. Ik moest wat friemelen om dit te doen, maar het was leuk! Misschien kan ik een keer een uitleg plaatsen over hoe dit gaat? Laat dan alsjeblieft een reactie achter als je dat leuk zou vinden.
I'll flip over the edge and let you see that the giant rickrack was placed between the quilt and the binding. I did some fiddeling to make this work, but it is great fun! Maybe I can show you in a tutorial how to do this? Please leave a comment if you would like to!

We kregen ook een nieuwe dak op onze serre. Het oude was geplaatst door de vorige eigenaars en was van plastic (uuuhh), heet in de zomer en heel erg koud in de winter. Voor heel even hadden we een dak met uitzicht.
We also had a new roof on the conservatory. The old one was placed by the former owners and was from plastic (uuuhhh), hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. For a very short while we had a roof with a view.
Helemaal links zie je nog een stuk van het oude plastic dak.
On the far left you can still see a piece of the old plastic roof.En hier is het dak bijna klaar! Nu alleen nog het plafond schilderen en mijn Yuwa-gordijnen maken met een stippenvoering.
And here the roof is almost finished! Now paint the ceiling and make my Yuwa-curtains with a polkadot lining.

Poppenquilt Club and so much fun!

Ziet dit popje er niet eenzaam en koud uit? Gelukkig had ze de poppenquiltclub Bee waar we een klein quiltje gingen maken wat haar warm zou houden.
Doesn;t this little doll look lonely and cold? Good for her she had a dollquiltclub meeting, where we would make a little quilt to keep her warm.
Dit is 'm! Zo schattig met 64 verschillende stofjes erin (oh nee, het zijn er 65 als je de border meetelt). En je kunt nog steeds mee doen met de Poppenquilt Club voor € 20,- per maand, of je bestelt het aparte pakketje hier. Het heet 'Doortje'.

En lieve kleine Emma kreeg helemaal geen aandacht. Gelukkig kreeg ze wel de quilt en kan ze vriendinnen worden met Tilly.
And darling little Emma didn't get any attention at all. Fortunatly she recieved the quilt and she can become friends with Tilly.

Je ziet het, we hadden een geweldige tijd!

Vele klanten vroegen me afgelopen week wat de kleuren zouden zijn van de Pockets of Posies. Dit is het begin, het middenstuk. Een mooi warm gevoel, niet waar? We proberen onze klanten voor te blijven :-)

Pumpkins are coming

Kijk eens wat ik deze ochtend gemaakt heb! Dit schattige spelden kussen, Pumpkin Pinkeep, is gemaakt van Weeks Dye Wool en heeft een klein lapje op de zijkant. Het steeltje is een opgerold stukje wol.
Look what I just made this morning! This cute Pumpkin Pinkeep is made out of Weeks Dye Wool and has a little patch on the side. The stem is a rolled up piece of wool.
Het kleine popje Emma houdt ervan om naast haar te zitten. Ze is dol op de kleuren en het feit dat het de grote spelden zo netjes bij elkaar houdt...
Little dolly Emma loves to sit next to it. She admires the colors and the fact it keeps the large pins so neatly...

Sooooo many quilting things

Ik heb Mara's tuin afgekregen. Het arme meisje was op 13 mei al jarig. Maar ze is blij met een kado op elk moment. Ik hoop dat je de schulprand kunt zien die ik heb gemaakt van rick rack (zigzagband) en nadat ik vele malen de insructies had gelezen in 'When the Cold wind blows' ( mijn favoriete boek van 2009, en vele met mij geloof ik)
I finnished Mara's tuin, at last! The poor girl's birthday was at the 13th of May. But she is happy whenever she receives a gift. I hope you can see the scalloped border I made from rick-rack after reading over and over the instructions in 'When the cold wind blows'(my favorite book of 2009, and I guess many with me).

Zie je de schulpjes? En mijn veren machine quilten? Ik geef er ook les in!

Alvast een voorproefje van deze maand 'Poppenquiltclub'. En o jongens, waarom heb ik toch een patroontje uitgekozen met zoveel verschillende stofjes? (en dan moet je bedenken dat dit nog niet alles is!!!)

Velen van jullie weten hoe veel ik van cappuccino's hou. Maar mijn oude machientje gaf de geest. :-(
Zie hier, mijn nieuwe machine, een Nespresso (from George Clooney, 'what else'). En deze maakt ook heerlijk schuimende melk in de beker achteraan en verwarmt het tegelijkertijd. Nu kan ik cappuccino's maken zoals ze dat in die koffie-corners doen!
Many of you know how I love cappuccino's. But my other machine broke down. :-(
See here, my new machine a Nespresso (from George Clooney 'what else'). This one makes loveley fluffy milk in the cup at the back, and heats it at the same time. I can now make cappuccino's like the Coffee-corners do!
Hier zijn de aardigste gast-docenten in de wereld! Ze hadden zoooooo veel plezier gedurende de Open Dagen van Quilt it & Dotty. Het einige wat ik hoorde was whaaaaaaaahahahaha, de hele dag. Links zit Guutte, dan Ellen en rechts zit Annie.
Here are the nicest guest-teachers in the world! The had sooooo much fun during the Open Days of Quilt it & Dotty. All I could here was whaaaaaaahahahaha, all day long. Left is Guute, Ellen and right is Annie.

De eerste Bee werd gehouden in mijn workshop van de Jane Austen Club. Het was wat krapjes zitten, maar zo gezellig! Rechts zie je de Jane Austen quilt van haar.
The first meeting was being held in my workshop of the Jane Austen Club. It was a bit cramped, but so cosy! On your right you see the Jane Austen quilt from her.
Stofjes aaien, boek bewonderen, slokje koffie. Veel te veel te doen. Tot de volgende maand! ( en het spijt me te moeten zeggen maar de Jane Austen Club is VOL)
